I don’t think Republicans give a shit about Floyd Mayweather. Some may hate him because he’s black but most aren’t as obsessed what that as us Democrats would like to believe. It’s not that black and white (pun intended) but that gives a convenient good vs. bad argument.
As for rappers, I personally think most popular rap is putting the finishing touches on wrecking the black community. I doubt the Republicans care about that either. They only care about it long enough to score a couple points with the no cussing folks but outside of political ploys rap is safe to spread and do it’s worst.

Don’t hate, Bill Maher. Romney killed it at Bain, then started Bain Capital and killed it some more. Then he left to rescue the Olympic games, killed it some more there, then went back to Bain Capital, took a $1/year salary, and turned the place into the premier VC firm in the world, all while making himself personally wealthy enough to fuel a successful political career. How did he do all that? By being a straight business G. By making the tough decisions. Decisions like firing off the deadweight people in companies, cutting away the fat and leaning out the meat. Capitalism is a tournament. There are champions, and there are losers. Work hard and you win. Bill Maher is the hater; socialists would rather give everyone a participations trophy and let everyone be champion.
Also–this is only my opinion since I’ve never participated in these two activities–but it seems like Venture Capital takes more concentration, dedication, general skill and effort than rapping takes. Not 100% on that but that’s my gut instinct. Like the point of rapping is to not give a fuck, while the point of VC is to give way too much of a fuck all the time.

To play devils advocate PBF makes a lot of money because people pay to see if someone can knock him out. He’s aware of this so he antagonize the crowd to make them care enough watch him fight for the chance to maybe see him lose. The majority of casual boxing fans cannot appreciate the level of skill he has since he’s usually not a knock out boxer. Does race play a factor of course but PBF is gaming that same hatred to make more money for himself.
On the flipside a lot of republicans seem to not like romney because of a mix of factors including some of the ways he made money as a VC.

Why would it be Republicans hating on Floyd Mayweather? Isn’t it Democrats who keep on trying to ban boxing because it’s “cruel” or a blood sport or some such bs? The only kind of earnings that Republicans don’t favor are illegal and unethical ones, and boxing is neither.

G, I thought you were too smart too play into the whole Republican/Democrat thing.
It’s very simple: criminals try to get something, without putting forth anything. That is the essence of criminal exchange. Whether it’s a mugger, the guy stealing your T.V., a con artist, or the crony-capitalist lobbying the politician for political kickbacks – the mentality is the same. Something for nothing. Democrats and republicans both are equally guilty.
Bill Mahr is an extreme statist and left winger who I am sure would have supported Mao or Castro in their day. Leave it to him to classify all business as crime, which is essentially what he is doing and to put a two party dialectic on the whole thing – of course he’ll say it’s the Republicans. Forget Solyndra, right? Both parties are essentially the same in this respect.
True free market principles are to be admired. You want to get rich? Create a product or service of value at a price which people voluntarily exchange with you. Expand and satisfy the needs and wants of more people. Consume less than you spend. That’s what it’s all about, it’s the most ethical system, and it shouldn’t be conflated with crime.
Finally, gangsta rap does not have a positive message and is nothing to be admired. Just think of the mindset it puts people into – pretty low. All hip hop doesn’t fall into that category, thankfully.
I am off to read my favorite Venture Capitalist’s blog. Bill Mahr did have one thing right “Get Equity or Die Trying.”
