Ice-T, West Coast Legend, Dopest Track

Truth be told, when I was a prototype G, making small deals, playing in the killing fields, I didn’t always feel Ice-T.

And I have plenty of people emailing me things like “Yo, Mike Mason, you always give props to Go-Go music, the Bridge and the Five Boroughs, but where is the love for the West Coast?” and crap like that. Take notes, get blinded by the spokes, skippy; I give mad props to the West. (If I am in The States, where else is better to lamp come summertime?)

In retrospect, T was a true pioneer, Soul on Ice, who could flow slow and still twist your tounge up, and rock the party from night till the sun’s up.

Sure he got served by LL Cool J, but then again, who didn’t?

Either way, “Mind over Matter” always got me on some innovative stilo.

I remember the first time I met T: he laughed at some corny joke I made about Swooping Fly Girls. Brief meeting of the minds. Game recognition. Cool Cat on the real.

The first Heistman/Rapper.

“Syndicate’s making the move
With the ski masks…
And Now I’m housing the long CASH”

“A lot of doubters
Said it couldn’t be done by me
them same suckers
Are now looking from under me”

True inspiration for a young impressionable prototype G.
