America’s Image Problem

If you like The G Manifesto, fill out this quick G Manifesto Survey

There is no doubt that George Bush damaged America’s reputation Internationally, as anyone who has travel the world extensively since the 1990’s will tell you.

This year however, I have noticed that the once great “Image” of Americans has also taken a header like Cisco did recently (and I am not talking about that weesh R&B artist, that wack food supply company, or that low-end booze that makes fools jump out of windows either).

I started noticing America’s Image Problem when I went to Barcelona earlier this year. I told the story of a stunningly beautiful Catalan girl who stepped to me in a dope hotel bar. (Side note: I can’t really blame her since I was feeling great and I was wearing a sicker than “foot in mouth” Custom Made Suit).

Anyways, after consummating the relationship in my dope apartment in the Eixample, she started off an interesting conversation:

Fly Catalan Girl: I am surprised you are American.

Michael Mason: (Not really in the mood for conversation, but I decide to bite) Why?

Fly Catalan Girl: Because you seem cool, and you have good style.

Michael Mason: Most American’s that come to Barcelona don’t?

Fly Catalan Girl: No. Most American’s are wankers.

(Side note II: She learned her English while modeling in London. Hence the use of the word “wanker”).

I really thought nothing of the exchange at the time.

Then fast forward to London Fashion week, when I was hanging out with a fly rich daughter of a Colombian mining family. We were taking a leisurely stroll near Wellington Square in Chelsea, puffing on jacks.

Michael Mason: Where have you traveled to in America?

Fly Rich Colombian Girl: NYC, California, DC, Miami Beach, New Orleans, Las Vegas etc (continuing a long list).

Michael Mason: Do you like America?

Fly Rich Colombian Girl: Yes, its nice to visit. But I am am always surprised by how fat the people are. Especially the girls.

This conversation was pretty interesting, as I aways thought that America had pulled one over on the rest of the world making them think our women were tops through our Media and Hollywood Hype Machine. But I didn’t think too much of it, as this fly rich Colombian girl had actually been to America, and thus “pulled the curtain back”, so to speak.

This whole thing really came to a “head”, so to speak, on my recent travels to Riga, Latvia.

I had no less that 5 different girls in Riga, Latvia say to me: “American Girls, they are really fat, yeah?” And only a couple of them had actually been to America.

I was particually brutal when I was hanging out with two fly Latvian girls, 18 and 19 years old, with thin, beautiful Baltic bodies and they said “American Girls, they are really fat, yeah?” and both girls started laughing evilly, wickedly and uncontrollably while sipping on cocktails.

It was then that I realized: America is a joke to the rest of the world.

How did we fall so fast?

The Rest is Up to You…

    America certainly has fallen fast.

I blame it on a case of:

Corprotocracy, too many wars, fear of an invisible enemy, too much spending, housing market collapses, governmental retardation, weakened U$D, the MTV generation, tech bubble, manipulative marketing brainwash hypnotism, prescription drugs for all, criminalization of everything, overcrowded jails, undereducated apathetic youth and general malaise

That and American girls ARE kinda fat.

Guess thats why i’ve always been attracted to skinny asian girls…

“Beautiful Baltic bodies” – that will get its own entry in the Oxford Dictionary of the English Language.

The stereotypical “ugly american” isnt so much a stereotype now as much as its become a reality. I believe it actually works in the favor of those of us who know how to carry ourselves with class. When youre an American and you carry yourself like a “G” it seems as if you win people over quickly and I seem to have great success while traveling. The “Im surprised youre American” is a line I hear anytime out of the country, sad but true.

I’ve moved beyond the point of belaboring the obvious: that the US has become the “Walmart” of Subpar Women, containing aisles upon aisles of hamburgers and hotdogs pretending to be lobsters.

My new strategy? Viewing America as one giant marketplace and taking advantage of the fact that people here are trigger-happy buyers.

In other words, let America make you rich. Then spend your riches outside America. A simple, obvious formula but not one commonly achieved.

    Jack Frost,

“When youre an American and you carry yourself like a “G” it seems as if you win people over quickly and I seem to have great success while traveling. The “Im surprised youre American” is a line I hear anytime out of the country, sad but true.”

Yeah, I get that all the time now too.

Success while traveling is basically the same if you are a G. It was just easier before.

    Legionaire,

“let America make you rich. Then spend your riches outside America.”

    Exactly.

    My plan exactly moving forward.

The only thing America has going for it is the diversity. If you want a long term girl, America is not the place to do it. But that is sort of offset by the fact that there are some good girls here, since this place has so many girls and diversity that you can indeed find a good one if you look hard enough. If you want it, you in most cases can find it.

Still doesn’t beat being in Europe and just seeing mad honeys walking by at a ridic rate though!

The mainland is really giving Hawaii a black eye.

A good indicator of this is the amount of Japanese girls I swooped this summer versus last. I bet I was down 50%. Now getting into surf season, there are tremendously fewer J-girls along the beach.

It’s not that they aren’t coming, they’re just sticking to themselves. Their style has also been shifting to one which is more geared towards meeting men from Japan as opposed to Islanders. For example they aren’t as tan this year. They’re staying out of the sun, and way lighter.

North Shore is huge for Australian/NZ, and various South American girls this time of year also. Today was day 2 of The Triple Crown, and I couldn’t believe how cliquey girls of various nationalities were, and how difficult they were to open. I’m not blowing smoke, but myself and my people used to be exactly the guys these girls came here to get swooped by. I landed girls from 12 different countries last year, some of them literally in my own backyard. This year, in just in these last two days I got way more cold shoulders then normal. And I’m Hawaiian, NOT American.

I have heard for years how we are in hopeless decline – since the days Bubba, Bush Sr and even when I was in Europe in the Reagan 80s. Yeah, we have fallen a bit, but I see it more as globalization lifting up formerly third world (to us) nations far more than they or us might have imagined. It’s a little silly to place all the blame on Dumbya. Chicago Jeebus wasn’t exactly a hit in Asia when he came over here with talk of further debauching our currency and leaving Japan and China holding worthless paper. But when I get the stereotypes about America from a foreign woman who gives any hint of being available I find it is often an invitation to a conversation worth having.
Trick is you have to determine what she really means by it. Some chicks are fishing for compliments or want to hear your comparisons of the locals with women back home. Others do it as a way to gauge how comfortable you are being away, i.e., are you the type that would be comfortable living abroad forever.
It’s funny how many times they use it to then unload on what losers the local guys are.

I’ve traveled the world, and I think sometimes American chicks get more of a bad rap than they deserve. Sometimes when you go to a foreign country, the chicks have a golden glow, just because you’re in a new place, it’s exciting, you feel full of possibility, and the chicks look hotter. Spend a few months in a place though, and the women in that country begin to lose their luster… a little.

There are quality American women, the problem is that there’s not enough of them to go around the male population so you’ve got a lot of sexual frustration in the U.S.

And in all fairness, U.S. men are not much better. A lot of obesity, loser thinking, and extreme supplicators who are obsessed with money to buy their way into a woman’s pants.

I don’t really care what people think about us. Because people like gossip, they like to over react extremities, so half of the believes are not true. We also have opinions about Europeans for example, but who can guaranty us that we have the right information about them? And this is available viceversa…

I just came back from some time in Germany. There we used to refer to fat people as americans… it goes like this

Buddy: Hey lets go get some beers
    Me: Ok, where?
Buddy: There’s a place near those two american girls

    1. Other countries have their own problems. Those who make fun of America, well, I’m sure they aren’t all that content with how things are with their own society. South America and Eastern Europe? Please. They have been in the bottom echelon of the humanity for the most of their existence, they’ve no where to go but go up, and they aren’t making much move anyway. The only thing they have going on are the women, which the western men can take advantage of if he’s got his shit right.

    2. It’s not that America has fallen so low, but it’s that it was way up too high for a few decades after the WWII, and before. Now the world is equalizing to an extent. The rest of the world is starting to see through the illusion of America and starting to see what it is–no more than human.

    3. People worship heroes, yet they love and enjoy seeing the heroes fall as well, because it make them feel better. The multitude wants to see failures, not spectacular successes, because it doesn’t want to feel bad and/or inferior.

    4. I agree that American women aren’t all that spectacular, but for those purportedly fat American women, I do see plenty of thin ones. When I was in college less than a decade ago, the ratio between thin women to fat women were like 9-to-1. It’s just that in other countries it’s a bit hard to notice fat women whereas in America a sizable chunk of women are obese, most likely past 30, economically and socially disadvantaged.

What do people expect out of the American women anyway really? You can’t make lots of money, stay super thin, super attractive, perform all sorts of crazy sex act, cultured and desirable, have an elite career, in an environment where men aren’t all that capable themselves either and have a very low or no desire to commit–nobody is a super being, let alone the American women. Look at the environment the modern young American women is in: femininity vs. feminism, career women vs. stay-home mom, demand on them for promiscuous sex, garbage from the past from their mothers and grandmothers, fast foods drumming up on TVs and elsewhere, 100% likelihood of having a boyfriend who’ll cheat on her, men who will pump and dump them, the American media feeding the BS that you can have it all in life simply because you’re an American women.

By default, the American women are in for a very, very rude awakening between the age of 16 and 30. I was weaned and raised on one notion and one notion only. One lone possibility: Be a man. Be a competent man. If I’ve had so many conflicting messages and directions while growing up, heck, in all likely chance, I would be a fucking mess by now, chasing the impossible things that can’t be all had all at the same time.

    5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but never at any point in its short history, America was known for spectacular or sensual women, or a high percentage of gorgeous men. Look at the so-called most desirable women from the Hollywood between 20’s to 90’s: even the so-called most desirable Hollywood actresses are a joke compared to an everyday Eastern-European women, not to mention all those Hollywood actresses were originally imported from Europe, a couple or few generations apart from the original importation.

A land of pioneering, innovation, daring and venture, relative freedom, progress, and wealth: that’s what’s been in the American DNA, certainly not the ‘looks’. Post-WWII America was in the highest esteem by the rest of the world because it literally saved the world, and after a half century, disillusion and a degree of decline is setting in. Now that a new chapter in the world is opening, and has already started, new challenges simply lie ahead. Many, many more challenges.

    6. Having said that, yes I do agree that America has fallen low, certainly lower than the previous level it was at.

    Much work lies ahead.

America is in a dire need of the next generation of its heroes.
