One of the interesting things about this day and age is you can do research on people (read: girls you have swooped/ about to swoop) on the Internet.

Facebook is a great resource for this.

Every once in a while I will check on fly girls I swooped and then Un-Picked up, and see what they are up to.

To re-swoop them of course.

The funniest thing about checking out these girls online is to see the guys they are currently dating.

More often than not (well, with the American Girls anyway) it is some guy with Super Suspect, Super Glittery Ed Hardy shirts (or whatever the shirt dejour is) faux-hawk, some queer designer jeans, posing in a bunch of “party pics”. (I think popular culture refers to these guys as “Douchebags”)

It is hilarious.

I would understand, if they were now dating some smooth, dashing, multi-lingual, well traveled, brutally handsome, International Playboy/Hood in a Custom Suit with a big BankRoll. You know, someone similar to your humble author.

But they don’t.

Or it is some Wimpster Guy.

It makes me wonder, what could they have possibly seen in me?

Roissy in DC, a Blog I read, had a great post today on Artist Game called The Painter.

Roissy talks about how he recognized a guy in his neighborhood flipping some Artist Game with two fly girls:

I’ve never seen him painting outdoors on a weekday morning either, and until now I’d never seen him in the company of women. This new painter’s schtick he had devised was clearly working. There he was, three random colors on a tiny canvas, a cheap art store easel on the sidewalk corner, and two hot blondes eating out of his palm. He was probably smacking himself for not coming up with this idea sooner.

Go ahead and try it. Buy an easel and a canvas board. Set up shop on a corner in the daytime, ideally during the morning or evening pedestrian commute. Dangle a paintbrush from your hand effeminately whilst cocking your head like you’re deciding how best to capture the majesty of the street corner. Wait for girls to approach you (which automatically signals their lower status relative to yours, as girls are programmed to never approach men), and run your normal game as usual.

I actually stumbled upon “Artist Game” years ago.

My running partner at the time and I were super bored, super lifted off chronic and it was a super weird overcast day in the most beautiful beach town in Southern California.

We threw on some floppy hats and scarves (think Salvador Dali in the height of fashion), grabbed some paints and two easels and walked down to the beach.

A fly Nightlife Princess/Photographer that I had a “loose” relationship with at the time, came along to take pictures of us (this was pre-my no photo policy). Adding to the hustle.

We brought some fruit and started painting mad still lifes and beachscapes.

Fly Girls were constantly coming up to us thinking we were the next Joan Miró and Gerhard Richter.

I completely forgot about this move until Roissy reminded me.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I have forgotten more Dope Game Moves than most people will ever learn.

Even after the recent market turmoil it appears investors still have an appetite for risk. Whether the risk taking is misguided is debatable, but the reality is if investors are more informed about the inherent risk they may be more comfortable taking risk. Though there still seems to be more questions than answers for investors to earn above average returns, they may need to be willing to take above average risks. That is not to say the stock market alone, real estate, bonds, or even commodities should be your sole focus it just means that investors need to educate themselves on the unique risks for each asset class and really ask themselves what type of beta they can handle in their portfolio. My suggestion would be to consult a professional in the chosen asset class that interests you and align yourself with someone that has a comparable take on the markets.

Financials

Stocks: The million dollar question was asked in Barron’s over the weekend” How much of the recession’s passing is already priced into stocks?” The S&P was higher by 7.50 points last week to trade to a fresh high for 09’. We are still not ruling out a test of 1000 before prices back off but we will remain consistent and reiterate that we do expect a sell off very soon. That being said we were light buyers for clients in the ES September 925 puts for $800 last week as we expect in the next 2/4 weeks a trade down to 945/950. The Dow was higher by 75 points last week, gaining over 1000 points or 13% just in the last 3 weeks. With July now behind us the Dow put in its best monthly performance in more than 7 years, do things feel that good? Resistance is seen at 9200/9225 with support at 8990 followed by 8825. A trade back down to the 50 day moving average would only be a correction of 6%. We have suggested for clients to lighten up on those stocks in their portfolio that have gained over 50% since the March lows.

Bonds: September 30-yr bonds were higher by 2’25.5 points last week to trade to their highest level in 2 ½ weeks. Resistance comes in at 120’00 with support at 118’00 followed by the 40 day moving average at 117’00. September 10-yr notes were bid higher as well gaining 27.5 ticks last week. Support is seen between 116’11 and 116’17 and resistance between 117’28 and 118’00. We advised clients last week to exit their NOB spreads at a profit of roughly $1500 per spread as we reached our target. We also advised clients to lighten up on their Euro-dollar puts as we expect a trade higher in the near term. However we would sell into this rally and look to re-establish these positions in the coming weeks buying more June & September 10’ puts. The NFP # guess comes in at a loss of 375,000 jobs for the month of July and an unemployment rate of 9.6%.

Reporting from Belgrade, Serbia — So let’s get this straight. A guy in the raspberry business from western Serbia smashes and grabs his way through a heist eight time zones away in Tokyo and scoots off past shopping centers and sushi bars with a $31-million necklace known as the Countess of Vendome.

It happens.

Djordjije Rasovic graced arrest warrants, a thief with brazen nerves, part of an international Balkan crime gang known as the Pink Panthers. He and one of his accomplices, Snowy, another name too whimsical for the harsh impulses of the former Yugoslavia, brought a bit of high jinks to a land haunted by war criminals and atrocities.

The Panthers, a collection of 150 to 200 Balkan bad guys and a few women, have stolen about $140 million in jewelry and watches over the last decade from 100 luxury shops around the world, including boutiques in Paris, London, Monaco and Dubai.

They come in rough, swinging hammers and axes, shattering glass, flashing semiautomatic pistols and an occasional grenade, and vanishing with gems in satchels lined with toilet paper to prevent scratching.
