Irish Gangster Whitey Bulger Captured in Santa Monica

Authorities at a multiagency news conference in Boston praised their own persistence and tenacity in the capture of legendary crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger, and credited public service announcements for leading them to the fugitive in Santa Monica.

The announcements were launched Monday and Tuesday in 14 markets across the country where Bulger and his companion, Catherine Elizabeth Greig, 60, had been spotted or had past ties.

Bulger, 81, who has been on the run for more than 15 years, fled Boston in late 1994 as federal agents were about to arrest him in connection with at least 19 killings, racketeering and other crimes that spanned the early 1970s to the mid-1980s. He headed an organized crime group that allegedly controlled extortion, drug deals and other illegal activities in the Boston area.

Whitey should have gone to Santa Monica, Mexico in the northern part of Mexico City. Or Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte in the Philippines.

Not Santa Monica, California.

Dope Movies: Inside Job and Brotherhood

After some heavy globetrotting, I have been down-timing it a little and watched a couple of movies.

Inside Job

I have read tons about our latest financial crisis, but it was nice to see some of the culprits on the small screen.

The only thing I can think about these bankers is: what a bunch of weasels.

And, how did they ever survive grade school?

If they went to mine, they would have gotten strung up on the jungle gym.

And not to get all “conspiracy theory” on here or anything, but I have written before that I though Eliot Spitzer got railroaded. The movie briefly alludes to this.

INSIDE JOB Official Trailer in HD

Brotherhood

This is a pretty good low-pro flick. I am not even sure why I watched it.

However, it does a real good job of covering the typical “crazy night” that sprials out of control that could change our lives forever.

We have all been there, but it is rarely covered in movies. Not your typical “college” flick.

Jim Rogers, Custom Suits, Wynn Las Vegas, Drug Wars, Jesse Ventura, Online Gambling and Steve Wynn Again

Undisclosed Location, South America -

Jim Rogers says:

Q. Given that kind of outlook, where are you investing in China?

Jim Rogers. The only thing I’m buying in China is the RMB. I can’t just pick up the phone and buy millions of RMB as you know, but when I can buy more RMB, I do so legally. I’m not buying Chinese shares. I would like to buy Chinese shares when they collapse. I don’t know when the next collapse will come, but there’s always a collapse in every country, so I would buy more. My view toward China is different from any other investment. I buy these shares, and I plan to hold onto them for my grandchildren – my children, anyway. I hope they own them for their grandchildren, because I’m convinced that China will be the great country of the 21st century.

Jacket (Not) Required

As dining rooms fill with T-shirt- and Converse-clad social networkers, is dressing up the new way to stand out?

Over the past several years, the dress codes abided and enforced at those ceremonies of formality and occasion, at everywhere from fine-dining restaurants to evening soirées, have become mostly unspoken, unwritten or loosened like so many Hermès ties. And just as these rules—that for so many years were out of favor—disappear, a new generation of formality-loving dandies is choosing (not being told) to dress up.

Some say the casual-Friday-everyday mandate came from the top: the White House. When President Obama took office in 2009, he quickly declared the end of George W. Bush’s jacket-and-tie requirement for staffers and the policy of no jeans, sneakers, miniskirts, tank tops or flip-flops for visitors.

Now, from Manhattan to L.A., the majority of the iconic old-school restaurants that once mandated jackets and ties for men have replaced “required” with “requested.” At the iconic Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel—a second home to Hollywood’s elite since 1912—the once strictly enforced dress code is now “no tank-tops after 10 p.m.” “A few years ago, we had a ‘no-baseball-caps’ policy after 7 p.m.,” said a Polo Lounge manager, “but after Steven Spielberg was turned away for wearing one, we dropped the policy, like, the next day.” Other proper-attire outposts such as Houston’s Da Marco and Baltimore’s The Prime Rib have also recently replaced their jacket-and-tie requirements, with “business casual” encouraged. Some mainstays are simply opening their doors entirely to the sportswear-favoring public.

These establishments tip their fedoras to many of the old haunts that have now eased their rules—and to some that have not. At the 105-year-old New Orleans restaurant Galatoire’s, a weathered plaque on the edifice reads: “Proper Attire Required: Jackets after 5 p.m. and All Day Sunday; Long Pants for Lunch Tues.-Sun.” And that’s the way it will stay, according to John Georges, the principal owner of the French Creole cuisine stronghold. “New Orleans is a town of traditions, with deep respect for them,” he said. “We’re not going to change because of the needs of out-of-towners, or because of the dressing trends of the day,” Mr. Georges said. “If you stick to your principles it pays off—in whatever economy.” In other words, some things never go out of style. A point that will certainly hit home as a new generation of wing-tipped Taleses and Wolfes hit the town, showing everyone how it’s done, again.

It is no secret that I have mad love for Galatoire’s.

Vegas Strip Revenues Fall; Wynn Fully Valued?

Revenue on the Las Vegas strip declined for the fourth straight month in February, the Gaming Control Board reported on Friday. On a year-over-year basis, revenue fell 9.6% in the month, against a 33% gain the previous year. Because the comp was so difficult, analysts didn’t think the result was awful, but they considered some numbers troubling.

The biggest culprit? Analysts are blaming baccarat, which more than doubled (in terms of revenue) last year as Chinese New Year fell in mid-February. Baccarat revenues fell 31% on the strip this February, when the Chinese New Year fell early in the month, the gaming board said. Revenue from table games excluding baccarat actually rose 2.7%.

“Today’s numbers are disappointing,” wrote Hudson Securities analyst Robert LaFleur. “During 4Q10 earnings season we heard commentary that Chinese New Year was very strong. While, drop was basically flat and the comp was tough the strong growth in baccarat that had been sustaining the Strip through much of the downturn appears to be evaporating.”

The drug war hits Central America

Organised crime is moving south from Mexico into a bunch of small countries far too weak to deal with it

FOR most of the 20th century, the small countries of Central America were a backwater, a tropical playground for dictators and adventurers. In the 1970s and 1980s they turned briefly into a violent cockpit of the cold war as Marxist-inspired guerrillas battled US-backed tyrants. Places like El Salvador and Nicaragua generated daily headlines around the world and bitter partisan battles in Washington. When the cold war ended, peace and democracy prevailed and Central America slipped back into oblivion. But its underlying problems—which include poverty, torpid economies, weak states, youth gangs, corruption and natural disasters—never went away.

Now violence is escalating once more in Central America, for a new reason. Two decades ago the United States Coast Guard shut down the Caribbean cocaine route, so the trade shifted to Mexico. Mexico has started to fight back; and its continuing offensive against the drugs mafias has pushed them down into Central America.

Whatever the weaknesses of the Mexican state, it is a Leviathan compared with the likes of Guatemala or Honduras. Large areas of Guatemala—including some of its prisons—are out of the government’s control; and, despite the efforts of its president, the government is infiltrated by the mafia. The countries of Central America’s northern triangle (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador) are now among the most violent places on earth, deadlier even than most conventional war zones (see article). So weak are their judicial systems that in Guatemala, for example, only one murder in 20 is punished.

And News Just in:

U.S. Government Moves To Shut Down World’s Biggest Online Poker Companies

Federal prosecutors today unsealed a sweeping indictment against Isai Scheinberg and Raymond Bitar, founders of the world’s biggest online poker companies, and moved to try to shut down their businesses.

The indictment filed by Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, charges Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars, and Bitar, the founder of Full Tilt Poker, as well as nine other individuals, accusing them of operating illegal gambling businesses. Federal prosecutors also filed a civil lawsuit seeking $3 billion in civil money laundering penalties, alleging the online poker companies disguised money they received from U.S. poker players as payments to online merchants selling jewelry and golf balls.

The U.S. Attorney in Manhattan moved to try to shut down the online poker business in America by seizing five Internet domain names, including pokerstars.com and fulltiltpoker.com, used by the three main companies facilitating online poker games in the U.S. In addition, a federal judge issued a restraining order against 76 bank accounts in 14 countries utilized by those online poker firms.

Looks like even Steve Wynn got wacked:

Billionaire Steve Wynn Makes Big Online Poker Bet With PokerStars

In a dramatic move that will forever change the online poker landscape, billionaire Steve Wynn has announced he is joining up with PokerStars, the world’s biggest online gaming company, to establish a strategic relationship that aims to regulate online poker in the U.S.

“We are convinced that the lack of regulation of Internet gaming within the US must change,” said Wynn, chief executive of Las Vegas casino company Wynn Resorts, in a statement. “We must recognize that this activity is occurring and that law enforcement does not have the tools to stop it.”

And

How Casino Mogul Steve Wynn Went All In On Online Poker and PokerStars

Nearly two years ago billionaire Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn met Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars, the world’s biggest online gaming firm, for the first time. Scheinberg generally avoids traveling to the U.S., but the meeting took place on Wynn’s boat while it was anchored in the Mediterranean Sea. Over a three-hour lunch, Scheinberg tried to convince Wynn that the two of them should work together to regulate online poker in the U.S. with an eye toward setting up a joint venture.

It was a tough sell. Wynn had for years opposed online gaming. He was not a big user of technology. When Wynn needed information from the Internet he would just ask his secretary to find it. He also thought it would be tough to regulate online poker. “If the Internet people got in trouble it would bring the wrath of the government down on us in the live gaming community out here in Las Vegas,” Wynn recalls thinking prior to the meeting. “I didn’t see the business opportunity, I just saw problems.”

During their lunch Wynn found Scheinberg to be quiet and reserved, carefully precise with his language and paying close attention to detail. Still, Wynn didn’t take the meeting too seriously. He did, however, take up Scheinberg’s offer to learn more in the ensuing months about how PokerStars conducted business. Wynn says what he learned shocked him, especially the company’s ability to identify any abnormal activity on its web site and stop it. “I only had misconceptions, I had no idea on a number of issues,” says Wynn. “They are highly regulated [in Europe] and I found out they had 1,300 employees and the average salary is $110,000 because they are so intellectual in the design of the programs. One of my concerns was about young people playing. It turns out they have more control about young people playing than we do.”

The “Act as If” Journey in Life

» 28 March 2011 » In Boxing, Crime, G Manifesto, Game, Guide, Luxury, money, People, Style, Travel » 18 Comments

The “Act as If” Journey in Life

“How I see it
Anything you wanna be you can be it
If your mind can preceive it
And your heart really believe it
Then you half way there and all you got to do is do it
And if you give it all you got there ain’t really
Nothing to it”
– Dead Prez

Many people out there hate on the “Act as If”/”Manifesto Destiny” method of living one’s life. I guess people just don’t like when you try to better yourself and people don’t like change.

“Everybody look at you strange say you changed
Like you work that hard to stay the same
“ – Jay-Z

Well, I am here to say that “Act as If” works. Here are three examples:

Hollywood Agent

Back when I was in college, I took a younger kid under my wing and showed him the ropes. He was a cool kid, and reminded me of myself, so I kind of made him my “little brother”, of sorts. He was really into Hollywood and moved up there right after he graduated.

He got a job in the entertainment industry in talent. He always acted like he was going to be a big shot in HWood. I remember when he first started doing it, people used to hate on him.

Later I heard he became the youngest Agent ever at one of the Majors.

Where is he today?

He now represents one of the actors that I respect the most in the world (and I have respect for very few of them) and is the heir-apparent to run Hollywood. I don’t even have to mention the quality of girls he swoops today.

(Interesting Side Note: Over the last few years, we have been hanging out again here and there. Since he is now the man in Hollywood, he sometimes tries to flow me attitude. I have to slap him down real quick every time. After all, I showed him the ropes when we were young proto-type G’s on the rise. He might be the Prince of Hollywood, but when we are in the same room together, he is still #2.)

CEO

I knew another kid in college who was always a little more serious than the rest of us, who were mostly into partying, drugs, traveling and surfing. He got dissed a lot for studying and being organized; things like that. He was a pretty good surfer also, but not near the best.

Where is he today?

I recently re-connected with him. He is now CEO of a major Surf Company (everyone knows what it is). He made it happen.

“If you follow your dreams you can accomplish anything
If you always do your best then your destiny is king
Of the world”
– Dead Prez

Want another example of “Act as If” working?

I would be a prime example (and I don’t mean Prime 112 in Miami Beach either).

For as far back as I can remember, I have always acted like an International Playboy. Even when I was a teenage two-bit Bean flipper.

I would talk about Custom Suits even before I had them. I would talk about Big Bankrolls even before I knew what one was. I would talk about swooping models, even back when I was swooping models. (That last one is a bad example).

Where am I today?

Jet-setting around the world, swooping fly girls, rolling with influential people, chilling on Yachts and Topless Beaches, making money in large amounts, training at the world’s best Boxing Gyms and doing it all in Custom Suits.

International Playboy to the fullest, Oh my Brothers.

Act as If.

“And what you get is what you see
In your mind visually
And manifest physically
If you stick to it shit’ll work out terrificly”

Life is like twistin’ a blunt, it’s how you roll with it
Just figure out what you want and go and get it
anybody tryin’ to stop you
For tryin to do for you
That’s your enemy dun
The sun be right up in your crew”

An Irishman Breaks Down Modern Kleptocratic Ponzinomics

Irishmen have always had a way with words. Listen someone finally telling the truth about the economy:

Via Zero Hedge

In other financial news:

Goldline Hired 3 ‘Boiler Room’ Salesmen Sued By SEC

Congress will open hearings Thursday into the controversial sales practices of Goldline, the precious metals dealer that pioneered the practice of weaving its sales pitches into broadcasts by popular conservative political personalities such as Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson.

Rep. Anthony Weiner, the New York Democrat who called the hearings, described Goldline sales tactics as a “profound rip-off” in an interview with ABC News. He plans to focus on methods that have turned the sale of gold coins into a multi-million-dollar bonanza for Goldline and other firms, especially in recent years as economic uncertainty has turned gold into a hot investment. The company, which is sending a top executive to testify, has said Weiner’s attacks are motivated by “a political agenda.”

But ABC News has learned the hearings may also draw attention to some of the controversial figures involved in the company, and activities they engaged in prior to taking jobs on the Goldline sales force.

Among them are three Goldline sales associates who were taken to court in the 1990s by the Securities Exchange Commission on allegations that they used deceptive mass mailings and what are sometimes called “boiler room” tactics to defraud 115 mostly elderly investors out of $1,180,000 over 13 months, according to court records. The scheme allegedly involved selling shares in a 1-900 telephone line. Investors were allegedly promised 24 percent returns after a four-month period or a 203 percent return after a sixteen-month period — estimates the SEC called highly misleading and false, the court papers say.

Paul Land, Charles Boratgis and Morrey Wasserman settled the case without conceding guilt, but agreed to return all the money they had been accused of obtaining through their allegedly fraudulent scheme.

Second Night in Riga, Latvia: Scam

Second Night in Riga, Latvia: Scam

Click Here for The G Manifesto’s Gentleman’s Club Report

Click Here 007 Lifestyle – Living Like James Bond!

So, I wake up nice and refreshed in Riga, Latvia. Do some roadwork, shadow box a little and jump some rope by the Daugava.

I get in a good dose of aquatherapy, throw on some fresh gear and go into a Street Game session (which is kind of like The Crack Game).

I am literally amazed by the amount of open fly girls on the streets. High heels. Cobblestones. Short Skirts. Cold.

I approach five different girls and get two sets of numbers. Decent. (I will get more into Street Game in Riga a little later.)

Get some work done, take a little Vampire Nap and head out into the cold and beautiful evil that is nighttime in Riga.

I have some decent Data Sheets of bars I accumulated from some people and I decide to check them out.

It’s Wednesday night, and Riga seems curiously dead. I check out three or four spots that were recommended to me, and they all turn out to be airballs. (Typical, as not everyone comes through with the bulletproof Data Sheets like The G Manifesto. My Riga, Latvia nightclub/bar Data Sheets coming soon.)

I grab a Kebab and switch up my buzz. As I walk down the main street, two pretty fly girls check me out and step to me in transition.

“How are you?” I say.

“Why you speak in English?”, one of the fly girls says.

“I am from California. American.” I respond.

“Oh, good.” Both Latvian/Russian girls say. Although the reaction is more of a “Oh, good.”, like “Ok“. Not a pre-George Bush “Oh, good.” which ment “Cool, I am really interested in getting to know you and swoop you”.

The trap is set.

Let me back up a minute:

I had heard before about the scams in Riga where girls try to get you to go to a bar and then you get overcharged, but I am not thinking about this now.

So you don’t fall victim to this one, here is how the scam goes down:

1. Fly girls step to you, and invite you to a bar that they like.
2. You get mad overcharged.
3. You argue about the bill.
4. Russian Thugs jump you and beat you senseless until you give up your PIN #.

Smooth scam. And I fell for it. And I was even warned about it previously.

But then again, I am the perfect “Mark” for a scam such as this as my Ego is huge and two fly girls stepping to me happens all the time, so it didn’t give off any red flags.

Here is another thing about me: Money has very little value.

I am a complete moron when it comes to money. I have had a certain ability to make it my whole life, but I have also hadan equal ability to lose it. Sort of like Mike Tyson.

In the spirit of this, I didn’t even bother to check out the exchange rates between Latvian Lats to USD before I rolled out for the evening.

And for some reason, I was thinking in my head it was 2 USD to 1 LVL. But in reality it is 1 LVL to .5 USD.

So these girls were showing me around and we got some food and drinks. When I got the bill, I noticed it was a little expensive, but not knowing the exchange rates, I was actually doubly hustled.

(I found this out the next day. Oh well. I will Charge it to The Game. You can keep the change, but I got to hold on to my receipt.)

After partying with these girls for a while, I end up ditching them for some other fly girls and end up raging till 6am. I think I actually got scammed again, but didn’t realize it again. Full idiot move.

Did end up with some decent leads though.

But just like that, I go 0-2 in Riga, Latvia.

(Well, technically, I am 0-2 on swooping girls. But I am 1-0 on the physical confrontation tip after that judo throw the night before.)

How to Pick Up The Strip Club Waitress

Click Here for The G Manifesto’s Free Picking up Exotic Dancers Report

Click Here 007 Lifestyle – Living Like James Bond!

I have said it before and I will say it again; I have forgotten more dope moves than most top ranked International Playboys will ever learn.

Here is a dope move, with plenty of style and dash, that I recently remembered, when a couple of cats recently asked me the best way to swoop Gentleman’s Club Waitresses. As we all know, at certain Gentleman’s Clubs, the waitresses can be the flyest girls in The Gentleman’s Club.

Let me break it down:

Roll into the Gentleman’s Club, as per usual. You know, Suited Down, Dolo, and with a Big Bankroll.

Side note:

This move is best performed on a “slow” night and kind of early.

Proceed to kick up your handmade loafers at the bar, get a couple high-end Vodka Sodas, ignore the girls dancing, Number Crunch, and make some small talk with the other waitresses (not the target), Exotic Dancers, Bouncers, and the Bartender. Who knows, maybe buy some Beeks or Beans; just make sure you Lock the place down.

The above is all “the set up”; now for the move:

Very important: you have up until this time, completely ignored the Gentleman’s Club Waitress you want to swoop.

Make sure, as you are making your exit, that you “time” it perfectly so you will pass the Gentleman’s Club Waitress you want to swoop. This will make the move appear more organic and “free-range”.

Now, walk by the Gentleman’s Club Waitress you want to swoop, and toss a $50 bill on to her tray, flash your dental work and say, “Take Care”. (A $20 should be good enough in a Down Economy).

Hold it a beat, as she is completely thrown off and has no idea what to say, and then walk out without saying another word.

Roll back into the Gentleman’s Club a few days later, take a seat at the bar and wait a few.

Pretty soon, the Gentleman’s Club Waitress you want to swoop will come up to you smiling and laughing and say, “Hi, my name is Robin, what’s yours?”

Then pull out the sickle, the pick and the shovel and Game Up.

Side Note II:

I have never done this move on a “Civilian” waitress, although I believe it could work. Especially in “cash heavy” cities like Las Vegas or Miami Beach.

Fun Side note:

I have pulled this move off more than a few times. The last girl I did it to, who was really ill, actually got fired from her gig for choking out one of the bouncers on a dare. I think she was taking some self-defense/ju-jitsu classes or something.

Even so, I went 12-0 with 12 KO’s VS her in the bedroom.

The Man Who Made It Snow

Click Here for Cocaine Cowboys 2: Hustlin’ with the Godmother

I recently finished a pretty dope book called The Man Who Made It Snow by Max Mermelstein, which is about the guy who basically sunk the whole crew depicted in the movie Cocaine Cowboys; Jon Roberts and Mickey Munday. Mermelstein was also personally responsible for making $300 million for the narco-traficantes in The Medellin Cartel and brining in fifty-six tons of Cocaine into America. Essentially, the guy made it snow in Florida.

“I would sell five keys to some colombian for $30,000 a key, or a total of $150,000. By the next day the Colombian had adulterated my pure stuff, just off the plane by 20 percent, adding enough quinine or amphetamine (better known as speed) or inesitol (powdered vitamin B) to produce six cut keys. He sold the six kilos he had created, claiming it was “pure” stuff, for $30,000 a key, making a quick profit of $30,000 in a day or two.

Some other lowlife Colombian bought the cut key and made it into a key and a half by further adulterating it. Then he sold this hashed-up kilo and a half to black street dealers in measure of one-eighth of a “pure” key, selling twelve one-eights of a key and pocketing his profit.

The street peddlers took their one-eighth of a key and added more cut to double it to one-quarter key, then sold it on the street by the gram, a quarter key becoming 250 grams, for $80 to $100 a gram.

The money derived from the pure stuff we brought in from Colombia kept a huge coke-hungry army of dealers and petty pusher driving their fancy cars around the slums of America’s Cities.

Nobody closely associated with the cartel delt in anything less than multiple kilograms of coke straight from Colombia. We never even saw street peddlers.
…and life was sweet

Two main lessons from the book:

Never drive a car.

One is wise to adhere to both.

(Here is my Facebook, New Twitter and The G Manifesto Facebook Page)

I haven’t really been keeping up with these as I have been busy swooping fly girls in Cartagena, and despite the description of the Heistman in the Hollywood heist, “The man, described as well dressed and with slicked-back hair”, and “smooth manner and debonair appearance” my ski mask has remained in my dresser drawer as of late.

Daring Heist at Poker Tournament in Germany

A heavily armed group stormed a poker tournament in a German luxury hotel Saturday afternoon and made off with a jackpot, a police spokesman said.

Several participants at the tournament in Berlin’s Grand Hyatt hotel were slightly injured when they panicked and fled following the daring afternoon heist, Carsten Mueller said.

German Poker Tournament Robbers Still on the Run

Mueller said four robbers in disguises forced employees to hand over money, and then managed to escape. Mueller declined to give details, including how much money the men got away with.

The jackpot for the tournament stood at euro1 million ($1.36 million), according to a European Poker Tour Web site. The EPT confirmed the heist on the event’s blog in an official statement, saying there had been ”an armed robbery executed by six men.” It was unclear why the number differed from the police count.

Four Seasons Robbery: Billionaire In Town For Oscars Robbed In Hotel

A well-dressed man who talked his way into a Florida sugar baron’s hotel room and stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry is believed to be the same person who pulled similar scams on a Mexican soccer team, a salsa band and an Israeli basketball team when they visited Los Angeles, police said Tuesday.

The man, described as well dressed and with slicked-back hair, posed as a Four Seasons hotel employee when he struck up a conversation in an elevator on Friday with Jose Pepe Fanjul and his wife, Emilia, according to police. Later that night, he showed up at the couple’s room and told them he needed to fix a problem with an air vent. After he left, they discovered more than $45,000 in jewels missing.

“I haven’t seen any pictures yet but I’ve had many calls and I’ve had a description, and his appearance and M.O. sounds very much like a man we’re calling Ricco Suave,” said police Lt. Paul Vernon.

Authorities gave him that nickname because of his smooth manner and debonair appearance, he said.

Brazen Conn. warehouse heist nets $75M in pills

In a Hollywood-style heist, thieves cut a hole in the roof of a warehouse, rappelled inside and scored one of the biggest hauls of its kind — not diamonds, gold bullion or Old World art, but about $75 million in antidepressants and other prescription drugs.

The pills — stolen from the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Co. in quantities big enough to fill a tractor-trailer — are believed to be destined for the black market, perhaps overseas.

“This is like the Brink’s pill heist,” said Erik Gordon, a University of Michigan business professor who studies the health care industry. “This one will enter the folklore.”

The thieves apparently scaled the brick exterior of the warehouse in an industrial park in Enfield, a town about midway between Hartford and Springfield, Mass., during a blustery rainstorm before daybreak Sunday. After lowering themselves to the floor, they disabled the alarms and spent at least an hour loading pallets of drugs into a vehicle at the loading dock, authorities said.

“Just by the way it occurred, it appears that there were several individuals involved and that it was a very well planned-out and orchestrated operation,” Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said. “It’s not your run-of-the-mill home burglary, that’s for sure.”

Experts described it as one of the biggest pharmaceutical heists in history.

Update:

New details emerge in history’s largest art heist

It is the largest art heist in history.

For 20 years, investigators have been chasing down hundreds of leads. They’ve interviewed countless witnesses all over the world, and still the central questions remain: where is the art and who did it?

What happened on March 18th, 1990 at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum? A a new portrait is now emerging about the famous heist, with some tantalizing details.

Investigators say at precisely 1:24 a.m., two men disguised as policemen knocked on the side door of the museum, saying they were called to look into a disturbance. The night watchman let them in.

Once inside, the thieves handcuffed both of the guards on duty, tied them up with duct tape and then, with free reign of the museum, they went to work.

But the question remains, who is behind the biggest art heist in history? Over the years there have been wild theories. Was it a fugitive mob boss? An eccentric art collector? Or just the work of local criminals?

“There are so many good suspects, it’s like an Agatha Christie novel where everybody’s sitting in the living room and everyone has a particular motive as to why they committed the crime,” says Kelly.

On the case for eight years, Kelly says DNA testing is now in play, but he won’t reveal details.

The Boston Globe reports that investigators may be analyzing the duct tape used to silence the guards. If there’s sweat on the tape, there’s a possibility of a DNA match, and the break investigators have been hoping for all these years.

The FBI has taken out ads, placing billboards on the highway, offering a $5 million reward for any information that leads to the safe return of the artwork.

There are two crimes in the matter: the actual theft of the artwork, for which the statute of limitations ran out in 1995.

And then, there’s the second crime: possession of stolen art. There is no statute of limitations on that, which is why the U.S. Attorney’s Office is now offering immunity. Prosecutors say if someone comes forward with the art, all will be forgiven.
