Jon Roberts Of Cocaine Cowboys Dies

» 03 January 2012 » In Crime, Dope, Guide, Luxury, money, People » 3 Comments

Jon Roberts Of Cocaine Cowboys Dies

Jon Pernell Roberts, the megasmuggler featured in the documentary Cocaine Cowboys, has died at the age of 63.

Supposedly they are making a film of his life starring Marky Mark. So you know it will be wack.

Stick to the movie Cocaine Cowboys if you want the real dope (so to speak).

Here is a good NPR interview recently with Jon Roberts about his new book American Desperado: My Life–From Mafia Soldier to Cocaine Cowboy to Secret Government Asset
:

Jon Robert’s Interview (Click Here)

Miami Lifestyle

Roberts returned from Vietnam to New York with screws and a metal plate in his head — the aftermath of an explosion. By the time he was 20, he was one of New York’s biggest nightclub impresarios, rubbing shoulders with everyone from Jimi Hendrix to John Lennon.

But after a business partner turned up dead and an informant told the police Roberts was involved, he hightailed it to sunny Miami. The year was 1975.

“When I first came to Miami, I wasn’t smuggling: I was like all the other dealers on the street just trying to make a living, and it got to a point where I had so much business that these people just couldn’t supply me,” he says.

That’s when Roberts shifted from being a drug dealer to a drug importer for the Colombian Medellin cartel.

Importing paid well: By the end of 1976, Roberts says he was moving 50 kilos of cocaine worth $500,000 or more a month. Roberts was living it up: He had half a dozen servants, a Porsche, multiple houses, dozens of race horses and friends in high places, including the Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The U.S. government labeled Roberts the “American Representative” of the Medellin cartel; he became known as “the bearded gringo” on Miami’s streets.

Roberts and a few American partners created a highly advanced drug-smuggling system that included secret airfields, listening posts to eavesdrop on Coast Guard communications, and homing beacons for tracking cocaine shipped by sea.

“We ended up getting, up by Tampa, a 450-acre farm and it was all surrounded by trees and we put two runways in there and we put hangars in for the planes to go in,” Roberts says.

Their drug-smuggling schemes stymied the U.S. government for nearly a decade.

Desperado at twilight

Death came for Jon Roberts, the infamous cocaine cowboy, on Dec. 28 at age 63, after a long battle with cancer. But his public career as a charming monster is just beginning

A true-crime memoir, “American Desperado” (Crown; $28), written with journalist Evan Wright, has just been published. In Hollywood, director Peter Berg and star Mark Wahlberg are developing a movie based on his exploits.

Dying at his ease in Fort Lauderdale in the company of a devoted younger spouse and his 11-year-old son Julian, product of an earlier marriage, was an improbable end for a man who never repudiated his lifelong philosophy that “evil is stronger than good.”

“How many times have I encountered a crooked politician who wants to establish he’s a nice guy, or a killer who wants you to think he’s a good guy at heart,” says Wright. “I was fascinated because here is a guy who has done monstrous things and he’s not trying to portray himself as a nice guy or a victim.”

As Roberts tells Wright in “American Desperado,” “I might be a sociopath. Most of the time I’ve been on this earth I’ve had no regard for human life. That’s been the key to my success.”

If “American Desperado” is to be believed, Jon Roberts beat people to death in New York, skinned enemy POWs alive in Vietnam, and helped a future CIA agent murder famed mobster Meyer Lansky’s stepson in Miami – with Lansky’s approval.

Roberts first came to national attention as one of the stars of “Cocaine Cowboys,” a Miami-produced documentary that was a surprise hit in 2006. The film details the early 1980s, when Miami became a nearly lawless place awash in cocaine, violence and corruption.

As an American representative of the Medellin Cartel, Roberts helped import some $2 billion worth of cocaine into South Florida, working with infamous figures like Albert San Pedro, Pablo Escobar, Bobby Seal, Max Mermelstein and Bobby Erra.

“He’s a killer,” says Wright, author of the acclaimed Iraq War book, “Generation Kill.” “The notion that Jon is a monster because he kills people doesn’t disqualify a person in my code of life. He’s a killer — let’s move on from there. Let’s find out more.”

Jon Roberts, Smuggler in Cocaine Cowboys, Dies

Last night, I spoke to Roberts’ smuggling partner and costar in Cocaine Cowboys, the laid-back and quirky Mickey Munday, with whom he had epic disagreements. The last time Munday saw Roberts, he recalls, was at a Miami restaurant with Peter Berg — where the cancer-stricken old criminal vowed to kill Munday before he kicked the bucket: “Before I go, I’m going to get you.”

“I told him: ‘If I had a bucket list, I might put that blonde over there on it,’” Munday says. “‘But not whacking somebody who’s known me for 25 years.’”

“I always thought that he would beat this, I really did,” Munday told me. “If anybody could, it was him, because he’s the meanest son of a bitch I knew. If cancer could get to him it could get to anybody.”

Munday later texted me, referring to Roberts’ nemesis Mermelstein, who also died of cancer: “I hope Jon is kicking Max from one end of Hell to the other.”

Travel Mishaps for The International Playboy

Travel Mishaps for The International Playboy

My life might seems like its blessed at times when you see me rolling heavy, Custom Suited Down, grit in mouth and with fly girls.

But truth be told, I take some heavy beatings from this International Playboy Lifestyle.

Some highlights:

1. In Dominican Republic back in December 2010, I pulled a leg muscle in a sparring session with a local boxing G. Basically sidelined me. Thank goodness for the fly Dominicanas with healing hands.

2. In Riga, Latvia, I got in multiple scuffles. One involved a Judo Throw. Another involved a Karate Chop. And yet another involved a full blown “knuckle up” on the cobbles. In the last one, I suffered a back injury.

3. In Bogota, Colombia earlier this year, I broke my cell phone charger while I was closing a big deal back in The States. I had to turn my phone off after every call just to save juice. I now travel with two-three cell phones for back up.

4. In Buenos Aires, Argentina in April, I had a major health scare.

5. I bruised my rib in a sparring session with one of my cousins in Belfast, Ireland.

6. In The Beaches of Spain, I spilled a full glass of water on my computer, in the middle of closing yet another huge deal back in The States. Luckily, it only ruined a few of the keys on the keyboard. For instance, whenever I typed a “t” it would type “t5″. It did the same with some other keys. You would be surprised how often you need to use the letter “t” when you type.

7. Then I re-injured my back again while surfing The North Coast of Spain on a hollow right.

8. I lost my Passport in Spain.

9. When I lost my Passport, I re-injured my back again, while lifting up a super heavy dresser from a weird angle in my apartment that I thought it fell behind (a book I had fell behind it). Then, my back went out while boxing a week later. I literally couldn’t stand up.

I had to get carted to the hospital in an ambulance! (First time in an ambulance).

My life might seem easy sometimes, but trust me, I take heavy punishment.

But I keep on punching. And if I said this Lifestyle wasn’t worth it, I would be lying to you.

Although, I think I am going to take it mad easy for a while…

The Best Nightclubs in Bogotá Colombia

» 14 March 2011 » In Food, Game, Girls, Guide, Luxury, Music, Nightlife, Travel, Wine » 5 Comments

The Best Nightclubs in Bogotá Colombia

Bogotá, Colombia-

Anyone who reads The G Manifesto knows I don’t get impressed easily by modern day nightlife in general or modern day nightclubs in particular. Especially in America which has been on a heavy downward slide (in fact, if I was the owner of even some of the best American nightclubs I would commit suicide because of the pathetic product they are serving up). In Bogotá however there are a couple of places that impressed the hell out of me:

Andres Carne de Res

The New York Times called Andres Carne de Res “profound, spellbinding, beautiful, tumultuous, confusing and fattening all at once“. I am not sure about the “fattening” part, but it’s a pretty accurate description. Andres Carne de Res does that thing that seems to be impossible to do in America: combining a great restaurant with a great nightclub. Even more amazing is that is does both at the same time.

Here is how the place breaks down:

- Five or Six floors with a couple of “half floors”
- holds 1200 people ( I did some math in my gulliver and the place is clocking un-Godly dough)
- Way more girls than guys
- Insane meat grinds
- Great Service (It is incredible that this place even functions with all the mayhem and food service, but it does)
- Open super late
- Mindblowing energy levels
- Performace art
- Everyone, and I mean everyone is dancing non-stop

Fly girls, steaks served at all hours, crazy dancing? I think I found heaven on Earth.

(Side note: the original is outside the city in Chia. I didn’t go, but it is supposed to hold 3000 people. I can only imagine how dope that place is.)

Salto del Angel

Kind of similar to Andres Carne de Res only smaller and the food isn’t quite as good.

Insane Vibe, dancing and fly girls though.

Your life wouldn’t be complete without at least 20 nights in each of these places.

And swooping mass amounts of fly Colombianas while you are at it.

My life is complete, Oh my brothers.

Colombian Trip Preparation: Salsa, Boxing, Surfing, Spanish

» 02 March 2011 » In Dope, G Manifesto, Game, Girls, Guide, Style, Travel » 2 Comments

Salsa, Boxing, Surfing, Spanish

Bogotá, Colombia –

A lot of people that are planning a trip to Colombia ask me, “How do you prepare for a trip to Colombia?”

Great question.

Here is my four point plan:

Salsa

If you want to really handicap yourself from swooping fly Colombianas: don’t learn how to dance. You might as well not speak other languages, don’t smoke cigarettes, stop smiling, stop telling jokes and don’t wear Custom Suits as far as I am concerned. I honestly can’t think of any Colombiana (or any girl for that matter) that I have swooped where dancing didn’t play a big role. Re-read this: The Salsa Swoop Move to brush up.

Boxing

It’s no secret that I am a huge advocate of the sweet science. Although Colombia doesn’t have the aggressive locals of say, Latvia; it is always good to be able to throw a punch when the situation calls for it (always as a last resort). Get your rounds in.

As a side benefit, once you get to Colombia, you can look up the best gym, get some sparring in and get to know some of the local G’s.

Surfing

I always like to get some sessions in when I am in California and Baja Norte. Almost all my best friends surf, so it is a good way to keep in touch with what is going down. Good exercise as well. And sometimes you just need to bust some tail slides and air it out.

Spanish

Maybe the most important thing you can do in Colombian trip preparation is get your language Game tight. Read here for Language Lessons. And make sure you read books and watch some dope movies as well in Spanish. Many a “phony player” has imploded in Colombia without the proper Language Game. Don’t be one of them.

Buena Suerte.

In other news, a Hedge Fund cat explains Why Do Smart Men Date Dumb Girls?:

Dating a less successful woman isn’t about wanting women to be dumb. It’s about wanting someone who prioritizes their life in a way that’s compatible with how you prioritize yours. I love my job, but I work all the fucking time. If I date an equally driven woman, we’re both working 18 hours days, when do we even have time to see each other? We don’t. I date a kindergarten teacher who works—f**k, I have no idea how many hours kindergarten teachers work. How many hours do you work? Really? Sh*t. Well, you’re a really driven person and you love work. But the theoretical Kindergarten teacher, she has a more flexible schedule, she’ll be able accommodate me, it’s going to be easier. Just on a literal level, it’s easier. Why don’t women do this too? Every alpha woman I know wants to be with a man who is as successful as her or more so. And coordinating that stuff is almost impossible. Why don’t they just date some beta male who works in a bookstore and will make dinner for them every night? Doesn’t every successful person—man or woman—see how that’s easier?

Jewelry for Mom

Jewelry for Mom

Bogotá, Colombia –

One of the greatest aspects of living The International Playboy lifestyle is there are times when you have tons of excess liquid capital. (Side note I: Being an International Playboy is great work…if you can get it).

And the best thing to do with that excess liquid capital?

Buy Bottle Service and glittery Ed Hardy Shirts.

Just playing, the best thing to do is take a break from the frenetic nightlife of Zona Rosa and Parque 93 and is buy Jewelry for MOM. (And of course, Giving back to The People).

Since I so happen to be in Bogotá, Colombia, that jewelery is going to consist of Emeralds from the world famous Chivor Mine. (Side note II: It is easy to get ripped off if you don’t know Emeralds. Thankfully, I don’t happen to fall into that camp).

You should do the same. MOM deserves it.

Her smile and the joy that you bring her easily pays for itself.

Colombian Family Gathering

Colombian Family Gathering

Click Here for The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuck

Bogotá, Colombia –

If you are lucky in “The Life” and have the pleasure of swooping a fly Colombiana and she invites you to a big Colombian Family Gathering, jump like House of Pain at the opportunity.

The other night I went over to the palatial casa of the family of a fly Colombiana that I am having a Mini-Relationship with. It was dope:

We walk in, and there are 6 different women cooking in the kitchen; La Madre, Hermanas, Primas, Abuelas, Sobrinas etc. My girl tells me to sit down with her 2 Suited Down Primos and El Padre and jumps into the fray in the kitchen.

The women continue to bring me non-stop cervezas as I kick back and rap out with the other 3 men present about football, boxing and biz. I don’t have to lift a finger.

Little primas jump all over me until I tell them to chill out as I don’t want them to wrinkle up my Custom Suit or spill Postobon Manzana on my luxurious fabrics.

We then feast on mindblowing Ajiaco, Bandeja Paisa, Morcilla, Chicharrón, and mad Arepas. Mad Aguilas.

We have like 16 women catering to our every need.

This is how Life should be.

And its quite a sharp contrast from American girls that can’t cook their way out of a brown paper bag. And I don’t mean that DJ Khaled track either.

In other prostitution news:

Sen. Reid calls for ending legal prostitution

Sen. Harry Reid called for the abolishment of Nevada’s legal brothel trade Tuesday in a speech before the Legislature.

“So let’s have an adult conversation about an adult subject,” Reid said. “Nevada needs to be known as the first place for innovation and investment — not as the last place where prostitution is still legal. When the nation thinks about Nevada, it should think about the world’s newest ideas and newest careers — not about its oldest profession.”

Dennis Hof, owner of the Bunny Ranch and Love Ranch brothels in Lyon County, sat in the Assembly chamber during the speech, along with nine sex workers that work at his brothels.

“We should do everything we can to make sure the world holds Nevada in the same high regard you and I do,” Reid said. “If we want to attract business to Nevada that puts people back to work, the time has come for us to outlaw prostitution.”

Source

Although way better than that Sharron Angle retard, Reid is showing himself to be an idiot.

What does he expect Nevada to be? The next Silicon Valley?

He should be happy that California is becoming a Police State and people from there want to spend their money in his state.

What’s next for Nevada? Ending Gambling? Pushing last call to 1:30am?

News just in Harry Reid, you don’t have a beach in your state.

Bad move for Nevada.

Bang Colombia by Roosh Review

» 03 July 2010 » In Dope, Game, Girls, Guide, People, Travel » 8 Comments

Bang Colombia by Roosh Review

Roosh, who has previously written the books, Bang (which I still haven’t read) and A Dead Bat in in Paraguay (which I have read, click for review here) has come out with a new book called Bang Colombia (which I have read).

The book is very short and concise, but is dope if you are headed to Colombia to swoop girls.

Bang Colombia, gives a little intro to Colombia and mostly talks about the cities Medellin, Bogota, and Cali. There are some real solid travel tips, and strategy’s for learning Spanish (which is very important when traveling to Colombia).

The culture and the nature of Colombian girls is touched on, however it is The Game aspect where Bang Colombia really shines like The Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Roosh has a real solid, somewhat unique, Game steez, that can be emulated by many people, especially those on a budget, which really should give this book mass appeal in a Down Economy.

There are some real specific Game techniques, and some real good Spanish lines, most of which I didn’t use on my most recent trip to Colombia. I look forward to trying them out in the future.

The book finishes off with some real detailed places to swoop girls in Medellin, Bogota, and Cali.

This book is a must purchase if you want to roll down to Colombia and swoop fly girls. Roosh has developed a real solid niche for himself, as the information provided is not available anywhere else. I really appreciate the concept, since for a long time I have thought that travel guides for cats who want to swoop girls is a great idea.

The verdict?

Buy it. Click Here to buy Bang Colombia
